As ready as we can be

Hurricane Ike is supposed to hit land in less than 10 hours and we are busy working on last minute preparations.  We chose to stay home because we thought it would be the least dangerous of our options.  Jim was released from work yesterday which was good as he spent the day along with friend Daniel covering all the windows of the house with plywood.  We have a generator that will help us keep at least the refrigerator going.  We have enough drinking water and misc water as well as canned food to last us about 8 to 10 days.  We also have gasoline to feed the generator and our cars.  

Our plan in case of flash flooding inside our house is to move to the bonus room/attic area on top of the garage.  We have an air mattress, pack and play, and some clothes, water and food in case we have to live there for a while.  It wouldn't be an ideal scenario but none of this is ideal, you just do what you can with what you have.  We feel blessed that we have the resources to buy all this stuff and be able to stay at our home while so many people are having to go to shelters and evacuate.  

Please pray our house holds up and that we are able to stay safe.  No harm in praying for the hurricane to weaken and/or disappear as well.   Here are some pics I took this morning.

p.s.  just got an email from our friend Alison who thinks that if we have a boy we should name him Ike!  Funny, but I think NOT Alison but thank you for the prayers :)
