Live from San Antonio...

for our first little getaway as a family of 4 and wishing I could report that we are having a blast BUT... we just had one of those evenings that you wish you could erase but instead will always be remembered as a low point in your parenting career.

We went to eat at Pappasito's, one of Texas "legendary" Mexican cantinas. They actually have three chains of Pappas restaurants, a BBQ, a seafood place and then the Mexican one.  I've eaten at the bbq and the seafood ones but this was my first time at the Mexican place and not for lack of desire but because the opportunity had not presented itself.  I had no idea our hotel would be so close to one and it's like the heavens had been preparing me for this meal for the last few weeks as I read Beth Moore's daughter blog entry about having had her rehearsal dinner there.

Anyway, we got in and the ambiance was awesome, like a big Mexican party, the sangria was floating around, chips and salsa everywhere, you could see tortillas being made fresh right on the spot.  I could you just sense what an awesome time my little family would have.  That's of course until my 2 year old decided to start behaving like a 2 year old.  It started with a tantrum over wanting to play with the salt and pepper shaker and it got progressively worse reaching the pinnacle of unacceptable behavior just as our sizzling lobster fajitas arrived at the table.  Long story short, two spankings out in the parking lot later and our food was cold and we were asking for to-go boxes and heading back to the hotel.  I could have cried... my first Pappasitos experience down the drain.

We are attempting Sea World tomorrow.  If you remember to, would you put in a word for us with the Big Guy.  Divine intervention is obviously needed on weekends away with small children.

Oh, forgot to mention... we did stop at Buc'es, so our day was not a total waste.  More on that later...  Happy Weekend!
