I went to bed last night

before it was official who our new President was.  I'm sure it's not news to anyone that our household supported the McCain/Palin ticket and so it was a bit stressful to me to see that things were going the other way.  I went to bed thinking it would be hard to read the news this morning but I woke up, read the headlines and saw that beautiful black first family-elect on the cover and prayed with all my might that God would bless this man and this family and that He would give him wisdom beyond his age, beyond his level of experience.

I know the Lord uses everything for good for those who love Him so I'm letting myself rejoice and celebrate with the majority of this country whose candidate won and I'm feeling hopeful. Even though race was never and will probably ever be a factor in my decision making when it comes to voting, I am excited to see a black face up there and I look forward to telling Lucy that the first black President of the United States was elected during her lifetime and mine and explain to her what a blessing that is.

"Today is a day to remember because today changed history for the world! Obama winning the presidency is a huge step towards the human race truly becoming united as one family..." words from a close friend.

I shed a tear as I went to bed, checked on my kids and prayed.

Palin for president 2012.
