Today we celebrated Jenna's first birthday (a little early) and it was such a sweet time. My heart feels so full right now. It was the perfect way to wrap up her first year as part of our family.
For the last couple of days I had been praying that her party would be a great time of fellowship and a fun time for both her and I (Jim and Lucy have fun in their sleep so no need to include them in that prayer!). I tend to go a little OCD when I am readying to have a lot of people over and often worry too much, letting the specialness of the moment pass me by while I'm making sure everyone has a napkin and a drink. Today, I took it all in, really took it in. It was as if my friends could read my mind 'cause they went to town with the logistics of the party while I just focused all my attention on the kids, especially the birthday girl.
My prayer was also answered in the form of a long nap for Jenna right before the party so she was fresh and in a great mood. I went and got her from her crib while guests were starting to arrive, put her on her beautiful red dress and took her straight to her cake. Then I walked her around the house showing her the decorations while I whispered in her ear "This is all because of you".
The next few hours were spent playing, eating, talking and loving on her. Ok, I'll stop talking now and move on to the pictures :)
This is the glorious cake made by Something Special in Beaumont. It had a strawberry cream filling that it's surely to show up in my dreams tonight. I found the design online and they were able to replicate it from a picture I emailed to them.... don't you just love technology!

I think the decorations came out cute but I have to admit they were a lot of work. I don't anticipate doing all this again for future birthdays... good thing a girl's first birthday happens just once, right?

Awesome decorating & way to go on allowing yourself to really be present for it all. The cake is amazing too... almost up to par with Ronin's cupcake cake (HA!). Love you. Happy 1st B-day, Jenna!
